Abstract
Pre- and Post-Orthodontics Injection Molding Technique
by Veneziani Marco
Injection Molding Technique (IMT) represents a revolution in the field of dental restorative solutions, especially when applied in pre- and post-orthodontic settings. This innovative technique allows for precise, minimally invasive, and highly esthetic restorations. Pre-orthodontics: IMT can be used to correct aesthetic and functional imperfections prior to orthodontic treatment, preparing the teeth for better alignment. Through the use of clear templates filled with flowable composite, teeth can be conservatively shaped and reconstructed without the need for excessive tooth preparation. This approach is particularly useful for patients with dental malformations, irregular spacing, or abnormalities of tooth structure, allowing a better basis for the application of orthodontic devices. Post-orthodontics: After the removal of orthodontic appliances, IMT is used to finalize the aesthetics and functionality of the smile. It can be used to close small diastemas, improve tooth shape and correct any color discrepancies. The precision of the technique ensures that restorations blend seamlessly with natural teeth, providing excellent aesthetic results. A major advantage of IMT is its ability to reduce operative time and improve patient comfort. The transparent template used during the process allows continuous visualization and accurate polymerization of the composite, ensuring perfect adhesion and durability of the restoration. In conclusion, Injection Molding Technique is a versatile and efficient solution both pre- and post-orthodontics. This advanced technique enables dentists to achieve superior esthetic results, improving the appearance and function of teeth in a conservative and minimally invasive manner, and contributing significantly to patient satisfaction.
