Alison undertook her postgraduate training at the Eastman Dental Hospital and Institute from 1983 -1985 undertaking a Masters degree and continued in further education until 1989 when she was appointed a Consultant there. In 1993, she moved with her husband Jonathan and two small children to the Midlands to improve their work life balance. She became the sole Consultant Orthodontist at Royal Derby Hospital and Honorary Senior Lecturer at Sheffield University in 1994. She has developed the department so there are now six part time Consultants and four post graduate trainees. Multi disciplinary cases are undertaken with a Maxillofacial and restorative team MOrth Examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh 2001-20017 and ISFE Examiner Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow 2002-2017. Author of over 50 Peer reviewed publications and participant in several large multi-centred randomised controlled trials. President of the British Orthodontic Society 2015-2018
