After earning a the degree in Dentistry and Dental Prosthetics from the University of Palermo in 2004, Dr Lombardo specialized in orthodontics at the University of Ferrara in 2007. He continued there as a research fellow until 2011 and has been an adjunct professor since 2010. Since 2012, he has been a researcher at Ferrara University and member of the European Board of Orthodontics. He is Full Professor in Ferrara University and Chairman of the postgraduate school of Orthodontics. Chairman of School of Dentistry of Ferrara University since 2021. He is the author of journal publications and a speaker at national and international conferences. He is an associate editor of the Progress in Orthodontics. He served as president of the ADIO and president of the AIOL (2013-2016). He is a member of SIDO, AIDOR, WSLO. He was the 2018 president of the AIDOR. He is an Active Member of the Angle Society of Europe.
