Abstract
Orthodontics Flipped Upside Down
by Sayegh Mona
Orthodontics, traditionally dependent on conventional methods, has experienced a transformative shift through advancements in technology and education. This presentation highlights the paradigm shift within orthodontics, emphasizing the roles of three-dimensional imaging, digital orthodontics and skeletal anchorage. Three-dimensional imaging technologies, such as cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and intraoral scanners, have revolutionized diagnosis and treatment planning by enhancing accuracy and patient comfort. Digital orthodontics integrates cutting-edge technology into treatment workflows, with computer-aided design and manufacturing (CADCAM) software enabling the precise and efficient fabrication of customized appliances. Additionally, skeletal anchorage devices have broadened the scope of orthodontic treatment, providing solutions for challenging cases while reducing reliance on patient compliance. This comprehensive presentation showcases the synergy of these technologies and their significant impact on advancing the field of orthodontics.
