Abstract
Ortho β - Gen: the Future Arises Tomorrow
by Caprioglio Alberto
I have been asked to talk about the future of orthodontics, a very complex theme because when I happen to listen to a speaker discussing the future, I often realize that it is already a crucial aspect of our present and, at times, even of the past. For this reason, I tried to envision a series of future scenarios that could truly represent orthodontic sciences in the coming years. 'The anti-boomer vocabulary' is an imaginary guide that opens perspectives and ideas, but perhaps it's time for it to start entering our daily lives. Five uncommon words, someone just invented, to share 5 uncommon scenarios. - Salivomics: a rapidly emerging field of study that focuses on the analysis of saliva for diagnostic and research purposes, considering it as a new "mirror of the body”. - Pharmodontics: The integration of smart drugs and essential elements for growth and development in orthodontic routines. Which substances, their quantities, and the treatment phase at which they should be administered? - Cephatissueometry: The advent of 3D radiology has changed the way we perceive teeth, bones, and soft tissues. An interesting series of considerations between soft tissue cephalometry and its hybrid forms. - TADsorbable: A provocation rather than a current reality. A more conscious approach to skeletal anchorage by biocompatible and absorbable materials that could give a new face to future orthodontics. - Orthotoxicity: new materials, new problems. Is direct 3D printing of clear aligners truly safe? The current state of the art and the questions of tomorrow for an increasingly secure experience with printable resins. Our dictionary begins right here, right now.
