Abstract

The Efficient Application of TADs and 3D Technology in Class II Non-Extraction Treatment

by Kook Yooh-Ah

The latest trend suggests that patients and their parents prefer non-extraction orthodontic treatment. In the treatment of Class II non-extraction cases, the modified C-palatal appliance (MCPP) is a highly effective device, which can be easily placed and managed by orthodontists. Scientific evidence demonstrated that the application of MCPP resulted in successful treatment outcomes by efficient molar distalization with bodily tooth movement. A creative and innovative approach for correction of Class II malocclusion using MCPP will be discussed including biomechanics and practical guidelines. Additionally, the presentation contains clinical tips, 3D digital workflow sequence, and treatment indications for total arch distalization. Moreover, the application of clear aligners with MCPP suggests less need for attachment and overcorrection; and removes the need for Class II elastics. This results in shorter treatment duration, better stability, and higher esthetics. Finally, clinical pearls and simple management via a clear aligner with MCPP will be presented.
